4 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | May/June 2025 However, providing our employees with more opportunities to come to Kent and train at the SEED Campus will enhance their connectivity to company leadership, encourage relationship building with company operations and support functions, and provide immersion into our rich company culture and history. The SEED Campus will offer staffing and resources to allow more of our field employees to have this kind of training experience. As word spreads about the Davey SEED Campus, anyone looking to grow a career with a company that supports them will see that Davey is in a league of its own. The SEED Campus will not only help us attract the kind of high-quality employees that make Davey a successful company, but it will also help us retain them by providing resources to develop their professional skillsets and help them build a career at Davey. The SEED Campus is unique in our industry, and we're already planning for major industry events to be held there in the future. More and more, our green industry competitors are being influenced by outside investors who force those companies to have a shorter-term view of the world. Being employee-owned, Davey is uniquely positioned to take on a longer-term, strategic perspective that allows us to make a significant investment like this in our employees by building this state-of-the-art facility. The SEED Campus demonstrates our commitment to investing in our employees, clients, and future, reflecting our dedication to employee development and our strategic objective of making Davey a great place to work. This incredible campus will be filled with resources designed to encourage, engage, and energize our employees, enabling them to grow, learn, and advance into the best versions of their professional selves. A. Since its inception, the vision for the Davey SEED (Science, Employee Education and Development) Campus has been to upgrade, expand and advance our ability to train and educate our employees, provide world class research and diagnostics for our clients, and expand on the diversity of our educational programming to match our growing breadth of services. The company has changed significantly since we built the existing Davey Institute in 1985 at the corporate campus. The current facility, which has a max capacity for 50-100 people in the current classroom space, limited lab facilities, and insufficient office space for our current staff, was built when we had approximately 3,000 employees, versus the 12,000 we currently have. The planning of the SEED Campus was influenced by the necessity for our training space to adapt to our growing employee population, our research facilities to meet the complexities of the client solutions we develop, and our employee retention and development capabilities to support our business growth and the diversity of services we offer. The SEED Campus provides us with an opportunity to scale support for our field employees to meet the growth of our employee and geographic base. Equally as important, the Campus provides the space and facilities to further develop our research programs in support of the products and services we provide to our clients. Our vision from the very beginning was centered on developing facilities designed to improve our training and research in support of our field operations. That vision is how we determined if new ideas became part of the reality of the Campus. We continue to conduct extensive training programs at the local operations level across North America, and these will remain critical to our training and educational success. Q. HOW WILL THE SEED CAMPUS SERVE EMPLOYEES? ASK THE CEO Pat Covey Davey Chairman, President and CEO
