Jim Houston retired Aug. 29, 2025, following 33
years of service. Houston joined Davey in 1992 as
a trimmer, West Cleveland office, Residential/
Commercial (R/C) services and moved into plant
health care that same year. Over the next five years,
he held the positions of sales arborist and district
manager for the Toledo and North Detroit R/C offices.
In 2010, Houston was named operations manager
for R/C's Northeast Region and was promoted to vice
president of Midwest Operations in 2011. He became
vice president and general manager, Eastern Operations, U.S. R/C, in
2017 and added Commercial Landscape Services to his responsibilities
in 2021. Houston is a past member of the Davey President's Council and
a Davey Institute of Tree Sciences graduate, and he had served on the
Board of Directors of the Tree Care Industry Association.

We are saddened by the loss of
Rich Nelson, who passed away
Aug. 11, 2025. Nelson was a
Utility Vegetation Management
lead specialist, NGRID account,
Davey Resource Group.

Dan Scolaro has been promoted to
purchasing manager of commodities,
corporate office. He most recently
served as department manager, parts
and warranty, Kent Shop.
Jim Tuttle has been promoted to vice
president of Mergers and Acquisitions,
corporate office. Tuttle joined Davey in
2009 as an internal auditor and was later
promoted to manager of Internal Audit
in 2015. He most recently served as
director of Mergers and Acquisitions,
a role he began in 2018.
