CREW TURNS SCRAP WOOD INTO PLAYGROUND FUN
From inside their classrooms, students at Bluebird
Montessori School in Delmar, New York, got to watch an
Albany office crew – with their chainsaws – in action.
Crew members Keegan Ciarmello, Holden Daughton and
Eric Roberts took down a dead pine tree and dead wood
from other trees on the property, carving the pine's pieces
into tables and chairs for the students' playground.
"As an employee-owned company, Davey's values are
rooted in taking care of the community that surrounds
them," Ciarmello, trimmer, Albany office, said. "This was
an opportunity to give back in a small way, and it also
allowed us to lean into our creativity to enhance the
client's experience."

EMPLOYEES SHARE FIELD EXPERIENCE IN SPANISH
Two Davey field employees presented on topics from
their career journey in Spanish at the summer meeting
of the Connecticut Tree Protective Association.
Ruben Mendoza, trimmer, Stamford office, discussed
the importance of collaboration, communication and
teamwork in tree work. Jhoanna Oliveros, trimmer,
Hamden office, shared her experience as a Latina in
the field, talking about what she has learned during her
three years in the tree industry, the challenges she has
faced and how to create a bright future for employees.
"So many people are not informed on the industry
and how they can grow in the industry, and Davey has
helped me hear employees sharing ideas, realize the
knowledge I can have, and learn new things all day,
every day," Oliveros said. "I want to be an arborist,
a climber. Davey has helped me realize this."
