Nathan Davila, senior associate consultant, Environmental Consulting services, also took part in the day's events by planting a southern magnolia named "Teddy." Other UVM, DRG, planting events included a collaboration between First Energy employees and Brenna Taylor, UVM specialist, for City of Bedford Heights, Ohio's Earth Day planting with middle school students, as well as the planting of 12 trees in the City of Orange, New Jersey, with Travis Limper, UVM specialist, volunteering. DRG 2: ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING SERVICES Joe Gregory, director, speaks at the City of Pittsburgh's Earth Day event, celebrating the city's 20th anniversary as a "Tree City USA" through the Arbor Day Foundation. Gregory was joined by Matt Erb, senior associate consultant, to highlight their collaboration with the city and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy in testing the Smart Tree Inventory, an A.I. powered tree inventory program developed by Davey and software company, greehill. Thanks to the program's success, Pittsburgh has become the first city in North America to conduct multiple comprehensive scans for analyzing tree growth and performance using inventory data. Davey was recognized at the event as a key partner in helping Pittsburgh remain at the forefront of urban forestry management. 1 2 1: SUFFOLK TERRITORY Teresa Baker, landscape technician, (left) and Adam Brown, landscape crew leader, (right) add fresh landscaping to Truitt Intermediate School in Chesapeake, Virginia. Alongside Baker and Brown, Brandon Deen, landscape technician, Ron Raines, branch manager, and Kenneth Pitman, landscape technician, spent around 35 hours adding landscaping material to the school. 1 2: PATRICK SPACE FORCE BASE Thomas Currier, project manager, handed out advice about yard maintenance, potted succulents, and other Davey merchandise to residents of the Patrick Space Force Base's military housing for Earth Day. 2 CLS SURGERY COMPANY Ernesto Gonsalez, general foreman, Southern California Edison (SCE) account, Surgery Company, (right) plants one of 20 trees along a center grass median in Santa Monica, California. Other SCE account employees Zoe Jacobson, supervisor, and Ivan Gutierrez, general foreman, volunteered for Whittier, California's annual Arbor Day celebration with help from Lucas Lagola, project manager, utility vegetation management, Davey Resource Group. Jacobson, Guiterrez, and Lagola spent the day at a Davey-sponsored booth handing out child-sized high visibility vests and hard hats for local students to wear while they planted small tree saplings.
