15 September/October 2021 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN 'STUMPING' FOR COMMUNITY ART Davey's Northwest Chicago Residential/ Commercial (R/C) office donated 23 stumps to Elgin Math and Science Academy (EMSA) for their "Stand Up Stumps" community installation. Jeff Garceau, assistant district manager, worked with EMSA to deliver the stumps. The recycled stumps were repurposed as seating and students in grades K-5 transformed them into works of art. The stumps display themes of social justice and environmental advocacy. The "Stand Up Stumps" installation was unveiled on Juneteenth in Examples of two of the 23 stumps placed around Elgin, Illinois, for the "Stand Up Stumps" community installation. the city of Elgin, Illinois, with the stumps being placed in different locations around the city. WSSI RECOGNIZED FOR SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI), a Davey company, was recently recognized for its leadership in sustainability and environmentally focused infrastructure efforts. EcoVadis awarded WSSI a silver medal in recognition of sustainability achievement. EcoVadis is one of the world's largest corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability assessment platforms. WSSI's overall score reflects on how well the company has integrated the principles of sustainability and CSR into its business and management system. WSSI has also received the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) Green Infrastructure Project Award at the June 2021 Conservation Conference. WSSI was recognized for its native plant habitat at their Gainesville, Virginia, office, which was Virginia's first LEED Gold-certified building when established in 2005. WHC awards honor excellence in corporate conservation. "WSSI has represented Davey on the international level and has distinguished itself alongside some of the world's largest corporations," said Amy Connelly, operations coordinator, WSSI.
