GIVING BACK AND CLIMBING UP IN MINNESOTA
When Casey Snyder, sales arborist, North Minneapolis
office, was in college, his only experience with the
arboriculture industry was when Davey recruiters visited his
school. Now he's looking to pay it forward. During the spring
semester, Snyder visited 10 students at Hennepin Technical
College in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and hosted two days
of hands-on climbing experience at a nearby park. Matt
Sharrow, foreman, South Minneapolis office, and Christian
Feichtinger, arborist skills trainer, also volunteered.
Snyder said one student in the class recognized him from
years prior when Snyder worked in the trees around his
house and gave him a business card. Now, that student
studies arboriculture and hopes to join Davey.
"This was an opportunity for the students to experience
what Davey arborists do, and what daily life could be like
for them," Snyder said.
LEADERSHIP
During the classes, Casey Snyder set up six trees with climbing lines
for students to learn and practice climbing skills as well as limb walking.
From the ground, he explained the pruning process and how to assess
the trees before each climb by looking for areas of concern.
STEWARDSHIP
DONATED TREE WORK HELPS
HATTIE LARLHAM ORGANIZATION
Davey donated tree care and three
benches to the Hattie and Richard
Larlham Memorial Garden, which
is the burial site of Hattie and
Richard Larlham.

Garden after the beautification project.
Hattie Larlham is a not-for-profit
disability organization that provides
care and support to children and
adults throughout Ohio. The memorial
garden is located on the grounds of
the Hattie Larlham Center for Children
with Disabilities in Mantua, Ohio.
The East Cleveland Residential/
Commercial office performed the
work at the memorial garden. The
office pruned a grouping of Norway
spruce around the burial monument
and several crabapple trees. A
Norway spruce and a crabapple
tree were removed, and the stumps
were ground.
This work was done as part of a
beautification project in preparation
for a memorial service at the garden
this fall.
