Davey Resource Group (DRG) and
Joe Gregory, regional operations manager,
DRG, received profitability awards from
AEC Business Solutions. DRG won the
award for finding ways to improve profitability
through efficiency. Gregory received the
Excellent Performance award.

Jennifer Lennox, manager, public relations,
has been appointed to the Kent Area Chamber
of Commerce board of directors. The
Kent chamber specializes in promoting its
members, providing networking opportunities,
value and benefits, and working for the
advancement of economic development in
the greater Kent area. Congrats, Jen!
Celine Schroeder, landscape designer,
S&S Tree and Horticultural Specialists, a Davey
company, won two 2018 Minnesota Nursery
and Landscape Association (MNLA) awards
for her project submission, titled "A Painter's
Garden." The project was inspired by simple
elegance in a small space. The first award she
received was an "Excellence in Landscape"
award. The second award is a new award
for MNLA called the "Excellence in Planting
Design" award.
"In the past, I've received 4 MNLA awards,
but this project was different," Schroeder said.
"From day one, the clients and I had a great
connection. Also, the installation process
went pretty smooth and the results surprised
me in a very good way! It felt like a real
success for me, my career and the clients!"

Daniel Herms, vice president of research
and development, has been named an
associate editor for the "Arboriculture & Urban
Forestry" journal. The bimonthly publication,
formerly the Journal of Arboriculture, is "a
refereed journal devoted to the dissemination
of knowledge in the science and art of planting
and caring for trees in the urban environment,"
according to the International Society of
Arboriculture website. Congrats, Dan!
Janis Hittle, retiree, was recently featured
in the NCEO Employee Ownership Report,
a bi-monthly newsletter of the National
Center for Employee Ownership. The
publication interviewed Hittle to discuss the
benefits employee-owners experience in
retirement. "Employee ownership at Davey
Tree means helping to secure my future, and
helping to secure Davey's future," Hittle said.

Mike Rolband, vice president of operations,
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey
company, joined the Center for Real Estate
Entrepreneurship (CREE) Advisory Board at
the George Mason University School of
Business in Virginia. The CREE works in
partnership with real estate developers and
professionals in the Washington, D.C., area
to advance research and education in the
field of real estate development and finance.
