November/December 2016 | The Davey Bulletin 25 VISION 20/20: SUSTAINABLE GROWTH SMART GROWTH AND FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY In our concluding strategic plan feature this year, we review the two strategies – Smart Growth and Financial Sustainability – which focus on the collective operating efforts that branch out to all our service lines, operations and departments. Profitable growth is important, as it can translate to opportunities for our employees. And, in order to grow successfully, we must remain financially strong while managing our resources efficiently and appropriately, as well as maintain our commitment toward innovation, continuous improvement and collaboration. WHAT CAN WE ALL DO? We all know that in order for any company to be successful, it must grow. Not only through new clients and services, but through innovative business practices and efficiency gains. It is essential that we – as Davey employees – keep continuous improvement at the forefront of our minds, as the next generation of growth and innovation at Davey will come from within. Please share with us your comments and ideas of innovation as well as examples of innovative business practices used at your local office or within your department by emailing them to bulletin@davey.com. INNOVATION At Davey, we define innovation as producing better products and services for our clients and creating shareholder value through efficiency and continuous improvement. Davey is committed to innovation and thought leadership in all aspects of operations. We are relentless in our quest to develop concepts and solutions to bring innovative products and services to our clients. CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Many best business practices help reduce our environmental footprint, but they also can reduce operating costs and expenses. For instance, our advanced-GPS program helps reduce fuel usage and emissions by decreasing unnecessary idling and eliminating unauthorized use of equipment. We are also working to eliminate wood waste disposal through sustainable recycling efforts. COLLABORATION Building stronger relationships with clients through service line collaboration provides additional revenue and strengthens our brand. Continued collaboration among service lines and departments is important for sustained growth.
