DONATING TO A WORTHY CAUSE PROTECT TREES, PROTECT YOUR HEALTH Pictured from left to right are: Lisa Andrews, client experience coordinator; Reed Dunfee, trimmer; Ronald Enos, foreman; Karl Yauneridge, trimmer; Jeff Wheatley, sales service technician; and David Piver, sales arborist. Davey employees are known for their compassion towards the community, and sales arborist David Piver's recent work at Talbot Hospice highlights this beautifully. When Piver, who works out of the Chesapeake R/C office, was quoting a job for the hospice, it was clear to him that the hospice didn't have the funds for the work they wanted and were settling for what they could afford. The original landscaping was 10 years old and too overgrown to be enjoyed to the fullest by their patients. In response, Piver donated the quoted work, leading a team of four men to clear out several trees for the Easton, Maryland, hospice. "When you have the ability to give, you receive ten-fold back," Piver says. Employees glean the satisfaction of doing good for others, but there are other benefits as well. "We pick up a tremendous amount of work through our donations," Piver says. Garden writers from all over North America gathered in Atlanta in September, and so did Davey for the Garden Writers Association Annual Conference and Expo. In the spirit of loving the landscape, attendees were invited to Davey's photo booth where they pledged to protect their trees because trees provide them with shade. For each photo, Davey donated $1 to the Garden Writers Foundation. With a total donation of $250, #GWA2016 was TREEmendous! Attendees pledge to take care of their trees like they take care of their health as part of Davey's booth. November/December 2016 | The Davey Bulletin 11 Davey Resource Group managers in urban forestry, utility forestry and natural resource consulting gathered in Atascadero, California, recently to discuss ways to collaborate to improve general operations, safety, production monitoring, employee engagement and explore opportunities for cross-service line projects. In particular, the chance for collabora- tion gave the managers an opportunity to consider ways to assist existing clients with services provided by the other attending managers' teams. "Keeping in touch with our other CALIFORNIA CLIENT COLLABORATION business units within Davey and understanding how they can help the needs of our clients will not only help us further our relationships but also make us more indispensable to our clients," said Vince Mikulanis, production manager, Davey Resource Group. Davey Resource Group project managers gathered for a western region meeting (with their Bulletin) in Atascadero, California. From left are: Amber Krebbers, Tom Loyd, Emily Spillett, Rob Toney, Steve White, Vince Mikulanis, Daron Dondero and Jim Lewis.
