Tom Wolf was elected to the International
Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Board of
Directors. Wolf participated on the ISA council
for the last six years and will now serve as a
board member starting in August. Wolf will
work with 14 board members from across
the globe to create strategic direction, fiscal
oversight and policy development for the
organization as a whole. "It's an honor to serve
an organization that has been around for almost
a century," Wolf said. "It's an opportunity to
learn from others outside of our company and
share that insight with people within the Davey
organization." Congrats, Tom!
Greg Snowden obtained the Professional
Wetlands Scientist certification through
the Society of Wetlands Scientists. Snowden
has worked diligently the past three years
to receive this certification, which is the
top accreditation a wetlands biologist can
obtain. You must complete five years of
professional work in the field to even qualify
for this certification. "It's a nice pat on the
back to finally get it," Snowden said. "It feels
really good." Snowden's wife and daughter
were so proud of him they surprised him
with a party and cake to celebrate the
professional milestone. Congrats, Greg!
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI),
a Davey company, received the Community
Partners of the Year Award from the Reston
Association for their support of an annual
fishing derby in April. For six years, WSSI has
partnered with the Reston Association, Virginia
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries
and Northern Virginia Trout Unlimited to
organize the derby. "WSSI, along with Reston
Association, VDGIF and NVTU have put in a
lot of effort over the past six years to make
this event successful," said Scott Petrey, WSSI
engineer. "And we've had fun doing it. It feels
good to be recognized along with our partners
for doing something that is so enjoyable."

Karen Wise is now the president of the
board of directors for Keep Ohio Beautiful
(KOB), a state affiliate to the larger non-profit
Keep America Beautiful. Wise has proudly
served on the board for five years. Last
November, unfortunately, the president at the
time, Dan Weisenbach, passed away due to
cancer. Wise, vice president, was later asked
to step into his role as president. "He owned
a recycled product company, so he was really
tied into the mission of KOB," Wise said.
"He was a great president." Wise hopes to
emulate Weisenbach's passion for the green
industry and create valuable green growth in
the state of Ohio during her term as president.
Congratulations, Karen!
