OWNER'S BOX
— Matthew Roddy
area manager for Eastern utility in New
Jersey and Pennsylvania
"Employee ownership affects my daily attitude
considerably. It gives me a sense of pride and
enjoyment. I'm proud to be part of a dedicated
company that is invested in not only itself, but the
growth and well-being of every single one of its
employees. Employee ownership creates a culture
within Davey that emphasizes individual strength
and ties us all directly to the success of the
company as a whole."

DAVEY DESCENDANTS VISIT KENT
Chairman and CEO Karl Warnke (left) speaks
to descendants of John Davey during a tour
of the Kent corporate center in May.
Members of the Davey family, pictured in the front row from left to right, are: Tish Manley, of
Rogue River, Oregon; Darlene Davey, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; Berje Hardy, of Blaine,
Washington; Helen Davey, of Los Angeles; Lynne Erbaugh, of Hudson, Ohio; and Jeanne Huckaby,
of Huntsville, Alabama. Pictured back row, from left, are: Loi Morris, of Mount Vernon, Ohio;
Diantha Harris, of Vero Beach, Florida; Diantha Giltz; Cecil Giltz, of Kent, Ohio; and Gary Huckaby.
Descendants of John Davey recently
toured Davey Tree's corporate
headquarters in Kent, Ohio, to see
the legacy created by the employee-
ownership acquisition in 1979, when
employees bought the company from
the Davey family.
Helen Davey, granddaughter of John
Davey, said the tour was delightful.
"It's so poignant for my sister Jeanne
and I to see our grandfather's dream
still alive and thriving in the capable
hands of (Davey) employees," she said.
