March/April 2016 | 11 LIGHTING THE WAY The holidays bring light and cheer to communities far and wide. One particular community, Paso Robles, California, shined brighter than ever thanks to Davey and the annual Lights of Hope event – a fundraising campaign for The Cancer Support Community (CSC). PG&E, a main sponsor of the event, asked Bill Evans, supervisor of the PG&E Los Padres account, if Davey could restore Paso Robles Downtown Park's tree lights, the main spectacle for the Lights of Hope event. More than 35,000 bulbs needed checked and repaired because the lights were left up from the previous year. Davey's three-man crew spent a day working to plug in, test and fix the lights, which covered the trees from trunk to canopy top. That night, hundreds of residents gathered to see the park's stunningly lit spruce, cedar and oak trees to celebrate more than 26 million cancer survivors across the globe while fundraising for the CSC. Davey also took part in the annu- al parade for the event by decorating a bucket truck with lights. "It was a very positive experience," Evans says. "People were very appreciative that Davey stepped up and got involved." The lights remained up through the end of March to continue to spread cheer and support the CSC's mission that "No one faces cancer alone." Bill Evans, supervisor, and Louis Stevens, account manager, coordinated a Davey crew, including trimmer Dennis Cortez and foremen Guadalupe Maldonado and Adrian Moreno, to check and repair 35,000 holiday lights on downtown park trees in Paso Robles, California, and take part in an annual holiday parade. Wolf Tree employees decked out a bucket truck with Christmas cheer for the Clinton, Tennessee, holiday parade. "The public loved seeing us in the parade and we got tons of praise for the work we do," says Matthew Gillis, foreman for the Clinton Utility account. Employees involved were Matthew Gillis, Jason Rush, Brandon Mounce and their families. DECK THE TRUCKS WITH BOUGHS, HOLLY A Wolf Tree truck decked out for a holiday parade in Tennessee.
