He later hired a wood carving team to carve sculptures from the trees' remains to remember the 49 trees that were downed by the tornado. T heir work ethics were beyond any expectations I had that the job would be done correctly and safely. This crew displayed outstanding customer service skills." This comes from Richard Trebus, a grateful client from Canfield, Ohio, who was faced with the cleanup of 49 downed and damaged trees on his property after a tornado touched down in his neighborhood. On July 8, 2014, the National Weather Service confirmed the tornado to be an EF-1, or moderately severe. It had ripped through Canfield and brought with it 90 miles-per-hour wind speeds, damaging 10 homes and countless trees and landscapes. Trebus was quick to contact Davey's Youngstown R/C office after he realized he could not handle the cleanup alone. District Manager Dan Yoho, Sales Arborist Kevin Crump, Foreman George Bayer, Trimmers Matt Ladymon and George Shiner and Sales and Service Technician Joe Payne responded to the call within two hours. Together, the crew worked to remove the tornado's damage as fast as possible. The homeowner requested that the crew leave two damaged trunks standing, for which he later hired a wood carver to carve out sculptures. The sculptures serve as a remembrance of the 49 trees taken from the property. Soon after the cleanup was complete, Trebus and his wife, Marcia, sent a letter of gratitude to the Youngstown crew thanking them for their timeliness and diligent work. As Trebus writes, "There is no better way to express our gratitude than sending a personalized thank you to express our appreciation to the Davey crew." Not Even a Tornado Can Stop this Davey Team Idea submitted by: Tammy Basista, client experience coordinator, Youngstown R/C D avey's work has inspired clients to take care of their trees, plant new trees and give back to the environment, but who knew our work could inspire people to write stories, too? After Davey performed a tree removal at a client's home in Downers Grove, Illinois, the client's neighbor was inspired to write a picture book titled, "The Tall Tree and The Big Green Truck." The neighbor gave the book to the client's son, Eilas. The book includes photos of the removal and photo captions.
