THE DAVEY BULLETIN
Five employees using the Motive Telematics/Camera
Driver Safety Platform on the job have driven over 5,000
incident-free miles.
The Motive Telematics/Camera Driver Safety Platform is
an AI-assisted tool that detects driving violations while
company vehicles are running, such as drivers not wearing a
seatbelt, using their phone while driving and following other
vehicles too closely.
If a violation is detected by the driver-facing camera, in-cab
audible alerts give drivers an opportunity to self-correct to
EMPLOYEES SAFELY DRIVE 5,000+ MILES WITH NEW PROGRAM
prevent a recording of incidents from being documented.
All employees who are approved drivers and drive a vehicle
as part of their work duties will be trained on the platform.
From June 9, 2025, to Dec. 4, 2025, employees who have
been incident-free over 5,000 miles were Drew Coulter,
Randy Heimsoth, Steven Hendrickson, Leslie Ramey and
Karl Spiekerman. The Motive Telematics program was first
rolled out to Davey Resource Group operations. Here's
three of these crew members' best safe driving tips for
other employees:
After a pilot program started in July 2024, the Davey Motive
Telematics/Camera Driver Safety Platform installations started
in 2025 with Davey Resource Group vehicles. The program
rollout is continuing with Eastern Utility, Wolf Tree, Davey Tree
Surgery Company, Residential/Commercial and Commercial
Landscape Services vehicles.
SAFETY
"Keep a large following
distance behind other
vehicles. Having more time
to react to any sudden stops
ahead or unexpected potholes
or debris on the road can
prevent crashes."

Management services, DRG
"When there's something on
your mind or if you're dealing
with stressful drivers, find
a rest stop for five minutes
where you can take a sip of
water or use the restroom for a
little reset. Production does not
supersede safety, and we are
getting paid to drive safely for
Davey from job to job – not to
rush from job to job."
Steven Hendrickson
Field technician, Utility Asset
Management, DRG
"Make sure to keep your head
on a swivel when driving
and to be aware of your
surroundings every time you're
in the car. You cannot always
trust the other drivers around
you to make the right decision
on the road."
