21 November/December 2025 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN FIRST-HAND PERSPECTIVE AT FALL WOMEN'S+ EVENT Bulletin writer Izzy Schreck participated in a recent Women's + Employee Affinity Group training that included learning the basics of tree climbing. I was fortunate enough to take on another learning experience in my early journey here at Davey at the Women's+ workshop Oct. 14-15 at the SEED (Science, Employee Education and Development) Campus. The two-day event centered around creating a safe, supportive and inclusive space to share experiences, grow networks and discuss relevant issues for anyone in the Davey community who identifies with or feels connected to the experiences and issues discussed within the Davey women's community. A total 59 people participated. I heard the benefits of becoming an employee owner, which I am excited to become as I enter my sixth month here. I climbed at the new climbing center, and I learned how to properly take soil samples. We also completed a functional movement screening through our Industrial Athlete Program, heard what makes a good leader, practiced handling difficult conversations that arise on the job and had time to network. For me, the best part was getting to hear stories, see deter- mination and learn from the amazing women in attendance who go above and beyond in the field and office every day. I met skills trainer Maria Tranguch, whose expertise, guidance and patience made everyone in our group feel at ease and excited as we navigated the climbing structure. At a Q&A panel with leaders from Hartney Greymont's Cape Cod office, Natascha Batchelor, Alyssa Cleland, Katherine Lewis and Nicole Semeraro talked about their experience working in a majority female office and how the amazing support they receive in their inclusive office encourages them to advocate for themselves and their future career in the industry. Every single person there was a leader, whether they've made strides in the industry as the first female market manager at the company, such as Natalie McNeill, who works to help organize these training events. Or someone like Katherine, who worked to create a non-competitive environment of growth and openness within her team. Since graduating college in May and starting at Davey two weeks later, I've learned something new every day, and five months in, I was able to learn first-hand how much our company and how every employee cares about one another, whether they've worked together for years or just met at the event. Everyone came together to uplift one another and encourage us all to pursue our careers to the fullest, and it encouraged me to join the Women's+ Employee Affinity Group and made me so excited to see what's to come in my own career.
