SEED CAMPUS
Research facilities at the Davey SEED Campus were designed to further
the Davey Institute's research mission of supporting Davey employees
and clients through improving efficiency and developing new services.
The research facilities are a mix of indoor and outdoor areas, including:
two laboratories; a greenhouse; tree, plant, turf and soil plots;
golf area; canopy walk; solar array; and pollinator plots.
SEED CAMPUS RESEARCH FACILITIES
Research plots on the eastern side of the
campus include simulated urban soil conditions
in compacted sub-soil plots. Additionally, the
golf area is home to research on how low-input
maintenance on golf courses can still yield
high-quality playing surfaces.
Beneath and around the solar array, the
Davey Institute has partnered with Davey
Resource Group and The Ohio State University
to study different types of cover crops for
low-maintenance vegetation management.
Research plots in the campus' west research
area include studies on eleven different
species of plants, trees and shrubs.
Research varies from studying plant health
care products and methods to pests and
other elements that can cause stress trees.
