Evan Beck is preparing for the Davey sponsored Master's Challenge at
the North American Tree Climbing Championship in New Braunfels, Texas,
where he had 30 minutes to climb a tree without prior preparation or
knowledge of the climb. The top 5 contenders of the entire competition
were eligible to compete. Sarah Hood-Recant also placed in the
competition, earning 2nd in the women's ascent and throwline events.
"I became interested in competing when I realized there's a lot more
to learn about climbing," Beck said. "It's not only fun, but it teaches you
new techniques and makes you appreciate the work you do every day."
