4 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | March /April 2025 We want to reward safe driving behaviors, and the data this system provides will give us the opportunity to recognize and reward the positive habits that our drivers exhibit during the millions of miles that we drive every year. The Motive system protects our employees in other ways. In many situations where we are involved in an incident and there is a discrepancy as to what caused the incident, a camera recording may assist us in defending our employee. There's nothing worse than knowing you were in the right when there was an accident and then not having any way to show that you did the right thing. We want to be able to defend our employees when they're in the right, and there's no better way to do that than to show video evidence that they were driving and acting appropriately. This system mirrors the priorities we have in every safety program we implement. We do everything we can to keep our employees and communities safe, but if something does occur, we want to be able to vigorously defend our people when justified. In addition, we strive to celebrate, reinforce and reward the positive aspects of safe driving habits. It's been ingrained into the Davey culture throughout our history to Do It Right Or Not at All, and that's what this system will help us to ensure. It really comes down to making sure we keep our employees and the people in our communities safe. A. The single driving force behind our initiative to put cameras into company vehicles is to do everything we possibly can to ensure that our people get home safe at the end of the day. We want you to get home safe to your family, and we want the same for the people in the communities where we work. Now, through the Davey Motive Telematics/Camera Driver Safety Platform, we have an AI-assisted tool to help us do just that. Cameras will be installed in 9,000 units of our company fleet over the course of the year. This camera technology automatically provides self-correcting, behavioral cues designed to help our employees be safer drivers when they are behind the wheel. Featuring forward-facing and driver-facing views, the cameras constantly record while the vehicle is running. They do not capture a driving event and send the video to the Davey fleet safety team or the driver's manager unless a driving violation is detected by the system software. If a violation is detected, such as a driver picking up a cell phone while driving or not wearing their seatbelt, the system delivers an in-cab audible message to the driver reminding them to put their phone down or seatbelt on. This cue allows drivers to self-correct and prevent a recording of that violation from being documented.
