25 September/October 2023 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Rylie Hannis has received the annual Fran Ward Women in Arboriculture Scholarship presented by the Pennsylvania-Delaware chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture and the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund. "The scholarship aims to promote the science and practice of professional arboriculture by women," Hannis said. "It recognizes women blazing their own trail in a male-dominated field." She is an intern, King of Prussia office, and a Penn State University student, majoring in plant sciences. Congratulations, Rylie! Lori Brockelbank has obtained certification as a registered consulting arborist from the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA). Registered consulting arborists are "the authoritative experts on trees, and whose objective, comprehensive viewpoint ensures the safety, health and preservation of trees," according to ASCA's website. Brockelbank is an area manager, Davey Resource Group, Environmental Consulting services. Congratulations, Lori! Dr. A.D. Ali pictured in the middle receiving the 2023 Edward W. Bok Award by the Florida Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). The Edward W. Bok award is "The highest award category awarded by the Florida Chapter ISA. This award will be presented from time to time, as deemed appropriate by the awards committee, to that individual whose lifetime achievement is exemplary to the goals and mission statement of Florida Chapter ISA," according to Florida ISA's website. Ali is a manager, special projects, Davey Institute. Congratulations, A.D.! Ryan Gustafson has recently been awarded the 2023 Practitioners Award of Excellence by the International Society of Arboriculture's Minnesota Society of Arboriculture (MSA) chapter. According to MSA's website, the award is given to an arborist, practitioner, or community "for dedicated service and support to the practice of arboriculture. " Gustafson is a sales arborist, South Minneapolis office. Congratulations, Ryan! IN THE SPOTLIGHT Emily Hilburn, environmental scientist, Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company (WSSI), is pictured accepting the Wildlife Habitat Council's (WHC) 2023 Green Infrastructure Project Award on behalf of WSSI. The award recognizes the grounds of WSSI's headquarters in Gainesville, Virginia office, including the more than 3,000-square-foot green roof that features two wetlands, walking paths, seating areas and plant diversity. The award goes to a project with "multiple features that provide direct benefits for community biodiversity," according to WHC's website. This is the second time WSSI has received this international award. Congratulations, WSSI!
