Matt DeLucas has joined Davey
as the director of talent acquisition,
human resources, corporate office.
DeLucas comes to Davey after
holding various recruiting and talent
acquisition positions.
Ben Furr has been promoted to
area manager, Davey Resource
Group (DRG), Environmental
Consulting services (EC). Furr
most recently served as a senior
associate consultant, DRG, EC.
Jeff McCormick has been
promoted to regional vice president,
Northern operations, Davey Tree
Surgery Company. McCormick
most recently served as an
operations manager, Washington
Utility operations.
McCormick is a 2007 Davey
Institute of Tree Sciences graduate
and a past President's Council
member. He is an ISA Certified
Arborist Utility Specialist
®
and
is a Certified Treecare Safety
Professional.
Jacob Ryg has been promoted
to district manager, South St. Paul
office. Ryg most recently served
as assistant district manager,
South St. Paul office.
TRANSITIONS
1. When did you start at Davey, and
what was your role? I started at I
started in 1996 doing landscape work for
around four months and then became
a foreman at the Detroit North territory,
Commercial Landscape Services.
2. What is your current title and
responsibilities? I'm a landscape crew
leader. I mainly check to make sure
the crew members are prepared to do
their job, and that the work looks good
throughout and at the end of the project.
A normal day at work involves arriving
15 minutes early at the job site,
communicating with the crew, and doing
my best every day.
3. What is one of your most memorable
projects you've been a part of? I do
a lot of bigger jobs and projects, so there
isn't one specific memorable project I've
worked on, as they are all so different.
One day I could be cutting the grass and
doing yard maintenance at a home, and
the next planting trees and vegetation.
All the jobs and projects I work on in a
week are important, no matter how small
or big they are.
4. Who is someone at Davey who has
had a significant impact on your
career? My manager, Jim Gabbard,
branch manager, Detroit North territory,
has had a significant impact on my
career. He has been not only a good
boss, but also a good friend. We have
great communication and I really enjoy
working with him.
