A two-day Factors and Forces training in Getty Heights Park
included around 30 Davey Resource Group, Utility Vegetation
Management services employees in the city of Indiana,
Pennsylvania. The course material covered how to evaluate
trees as well as any potential risks before climbing or
working with a tree, and included a fungi walk with
instructor Christine Balk, technical advisor, Davey Institute.

training specialist, Davey Institute, explained Factors and
Forces is taught with techniques that help employees keep
safety in mind.
"It's all back to the lives we're responsible for and our own
safety," Julius said. "These trainings are just one more thing in
our toolbox that we can use to ensure we're safe on the job."
Factors and Forces participants included employees and managers from
Davey Resource Group, Utility Vegetation Management services.
The Womens+ workshop brought together
women and allied groups from across the
country, including 40 employees from the
Residential/Commercial services' Boulder,
Dallas, East Denver, East San Antonio, Fort
Collins, North Denver, Northwest Seattle,
Omaha, Portland, San Francisco, South Denver,
Southeast Denver, South Houston, and West
Denver offices, as well employees from Davey
Resource Group and Davey Tree Surgery
Company. The event also had additional
women and support members from corporate
departments, including the Davey Institute,
the health and safety team, and recruiting.
The second annual Western Women+
Careers workshop in Thorton,
Colorado united women and allied
Davey groups. Forty employees
attended to discuss the importance
of networking, share personal stories,
take part in plant health care, climbing
and tree planting workshops.
For Morgan Nash, foreman, East
Denver office, and Natali Batat,
trimmer, Southeast Denver office, it
was their second time attending.
"Having events like these is important
because it creates a sense of
community, gives women a chance
to network, and shows we have allies,"
Nash said.
Batat said the event helped her feel
like she belongs with Davey. "It's such
an empowering event," Batat said.
WOMEN+ CAREER WORKSHOP UNITES WOMEN AND ALLIES
