They explored ways to provide innovative solutions to complex tree conservation challenges in the built environment across North America. "It was an opportunity for like-minded individuals practicing tree conservation on construction sites across America to gather," David Dechant, sales arborist, Arborguard Tree Specialists, a Davey company, Atlanta office, said. "It helped us find out how we are collectively managing tree conservation on site and how innovative techniques we promote can help overcome tough design challenges facing arborists." Dechant, along with Meghan Chuites, sales arborist, Jonathan McNeil, district manager, and James Blackburn, market manager, Southeast operations, R/C services, DAVEY INSTITUTE OF TREE CONSERVATION MEETS IN ATLANTA organized the meeting. It included a workshop presented by WSSI on ground-penetrating radar equipment used for mapping tree root systems prior to construction, as well as presentations from Davey employees and clients, including Atlanta landscape architects and project managers. Tours of current and past tree conservation projects were held at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Atlanta Beltline and Georgia Institute of Technology. "We want to show the world what it takes to conserve trees in the built environment and why it's worth it," said Chris Fields-Johnson, technical advisor, Davey Institute. Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited's rail division hosted their annual railroad safety training meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba, for railway employees to meet and talk to Davey Canada management, safety team members and Davey clients. "The railway is a large market, and our clients find this training invaluable," said Greg McRae, manager, rail division, Davey Canada. The multi-day event includes classroom and hands-on training about company policies and safety measures that come with working in and around Canadian rail systems, as well as roundtable discussions and prize giveaways. Employees also visited client facilities CANADA RAIL DIVISON HOSTS RAILROAD SAFETY TRAINING The meeting included around 70 railway employees from all over Canada. where seasonal vegetation management work is performed for a chance to test or review equipment. "These trainings bring together rail and Davey employees from across Canada," McRae said.
