19 May/June 2023 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN 2: CLEVELAND GUARDIANS & 'SWING FOR THE TREES' During the 2022 season, Davey partnered with the Guardians for the "Swing for the Trees" program to plant one tree for each home run earned – a total of 132. In May, Davey employees from the Northeast Ohio area distributed and helped plant 82 of the total 132 trees to be planted in the Cleveland, Ohio area to eight local organizations. The Guardians' Paul Dolan, part-owner, chairman, and CEO (pictured second from left), and Davey's Sandra Reid, vice president, corporate communications and strategic planning (pictured on the far left), gave remarks to kick off the event at B-Buzz Baseball's Kerruish Park, emphasizing the importance of increasing Cleveland's tree canopy. They were joined during a ceremonial tree planting by B-Buzz's Wendell H. Fields, executive director (pictured second from right), along with the Guardians' mascot Slider. 1: OHIO INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ARBORICULTURE CHAPTER Pictured from left in Columbus, Ohio at Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Garden's Arbor Day Festival are Brady Holko, lab technician, Davey Institute, and Kodi Riedel, diagnostic laboratory supervisor, Davey Institute. Holko and Riedel assisted the Ohio Chapter International Society of Arboriculture with their "Ask an Arborist" booth. 1 2 3: PORTAGE PARK FOUNDATION ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD Davey's corporate third wing addition earned the Portage Park District Foundation's Environmental Conservation Green Building/Development award, for "Growing smart, growing green, and living their values," according to the foundation. Environmentally sustainable features, such as the wood salvaged from the small forest of trees that stood on the property prior to construction and used to make two large conference room tables and wood paneling in many feature walls throughout the building contributed to Davey winning the award, which was presented on Earth Day. The live plant wall in the café, Electric Vehicle charging stations, and bike racks, are a few of the additional sustainable design details. 4: PITTSBURGH PENGUINS & 'SCORE FOR THE TREES' Timothy Frank, assistant district manager, and Luke Werner, district manager, both from the North Pittsburgh office, are pictured with the Pittsburgh Penguins' mascot, Iceburgh, and students from Pittsburgh's Sacred Heart Elementary School for an Arbor Day "Score for the Trees" tree planting on April 25. Davey partnered with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Tree Pittsburgh to increase Pittsburgh's tree canopy by 142 trees, to represent the total number of goals scored at home this season by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Davey employees from all three Pittsburgh offices volunteered alongside students to plant trees at the school. Eric Countryman, district manager, East Pittsburgh office, and Kris Bruestle, market manager, Great Lakes East, supported several Penguins planting events. In addition, April 25 was World Penguin Day, and the Pittsburgh Penguins announced its "Penguins Pledge" sustainability initiative to improve social, economic, and environmental sustainability. Davey has partnered with the Pittsburgh Penguins to support the "Penguins Pledge." 3 4 1 CORPORATE
