Those who earn this certification demonstrate they "have met the requirements for the gold standard of safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) credentials and have achieved the industry's most-recognized SH&E certification," according to the Board of Certified ® Safety Professionals website. Hurysz is a manager, human performance safety consulting services, Davey Resource Group. Congratulations, Paul! Retiree Charlie Keppel received the Person of the Year Award by the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA). This award honors a positively influential leader in the industry during the annual iLandscape ™ Show, which brings landscape professionals from all over the Illinois and Wisconsin region together for a conference and awards night. Congratulations, Charlie! IN THE SPOTLIGHT Paul Ohlman earned his Registered Professional Forester (RPF) license from California's Board of Forestry and Fire Protection. RPF's must have seven years of forestry work experience, good moral character, and a passing score of a minimum of 75% on the written examination given by the Professional Foresters Examining Committee (PFEC). Ohlman is a UVM senior specialist, Utility Vegetation Management services, Davey Resource Group. Congratulations, Paul! Cindy Schwab has been appointed to the newly created Urban Forestry Advisory Board in Chicago, Illinois. The board is tasked with promoting policies and investments to ensure the survival of 75,000 trees that were planted over the last five years. These trees were planted to increase Chicago's overall tree canopy, which had dropped to only 16%. Schwab is a regional recruiting manager, corporate recruiting. Congratulations, Cindy! Jim Houston was re-elected to the Tree Care Industry Association's (TCIA) Board of Directors for the 2023-2026 term. TCIA is a trade association whose mission is to advance the tree care business through safety and education programs. Houston is the vice president and general manager, Eastern Operations, U.S. Residential/Commercial services and Commercial Landscape Services. Congratulations, Jim! In February, Clinton Williams was recognized by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) with an ISA Member Spotlight for his work as a community leader. Williams played an integral role in creating a collaborative program between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 17 and DTE Energy, named the DTE | IBEW Tree Trim Academy, a six-week Line Clearance Tree Trimming training program in Detroit, Michigan. He designed the curriculum, is a lead instructor, and travels to conferences to speak with arborists about forming similar programs in their communities. In addition, Williams is on the education committee of the ISA Michigan chapter. He is a foreman on the DTE Energy account. Congratulations, Clinton!
