18 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | November/December 2022 LEADERSHIP ISA TREE CLIMBING CHAMPIONSHIPS The ISA Georgia Arborist Association's Tree Climbing Championship at Pittard Park kicked off with the Trees Unite Us Conference at Marigold Auditorium, sponsored by Davey. Jonathan McNeil, district manager, Arborguard Atlanta office, spoke about modern arboriculture for tree care crews at the Continued Education Events during the conference. The Arborguard Atlanta office's James Fagan, trimmer, and Summer Price, foreman, competed. Fagan (pictured on the left) placed thirtieth in the men's division, and Price (pictured on the right) placed first overall in the women's Masters' Challenge. GEORGIA Two Davey employees competed in ISA's Michigan Tree Climbing Championship, held at Detroit, Michigan's Belle Isle Park. Matthew Regoni (pictured in the middle), arborist skills trainer, Davey Institute, came in thirty-first overall, and Ryan Whitson (pictured on the left), foreman, South Detroit office, placed forty-fourth. Christian Feichtinger (pictured on the right), arborist skills trainer, Davey Institute, and Bob Paris, district manager, South Detroit office, attended to cheer on the competitors. MICHIGAN The International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) held the International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC) – World Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark, sponsored by Davey. For the overall women's scores, Alex Julius (left), employee development and safety training specialist, placed thirty-second; and Summer Price (middle), foreman, Arborguard Atlanta, placed fourteenth. Sam Schunk (right), foreman, Elmsford office, placed forty-fifth overall for the men. The Davey Institute's arborist skills trainers Tim Bushnell and Eduardo Medina, along with the Boulder office's Jeffrey Meyer, sales and service coordinator, volunteered as ITCC event judges. Pictured are ISA TCCs held this fall. DENMARK Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited sponsored the ISA's Ontario Tree Climbing Championship (OTCC), held at Springbank Park, in London, Ontario. Ryan Statham (pictured, holding the clipboard), district manager, Strathroy Residential office, was a judge at the Work Climb event. Arthur Neads, trimmer, City of London account, was a judge at the Throwline event. Matt Furber, climber, London Residential office; Ron Wammes, foreman, City of London account; and Trevor White, foreman, Toronto Hydro account, volunteered at the Speed Climb event. Additional Davey Canada OTCC volunteers included Clay Duchene, foreman, London Residential office; Benjamin Doiron, crew leader, Alectra Utilities Guelph account; Nick Spino, technical advisor, health and safety department; and Michael Wray, groundperson, London Residential office. Representing Davey at a booth were groundspeople Jaclyn Cullen, London Residential office, and Annalee Vanderhelm, Strathroy Residential office. Photo credit: InTree Media The Pacific Northwest ISA chapter's British Columbia Tree Climbing Competition (BCTCC) was held at Maple Ridge Park in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Three competitors from Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited's Residential offices competed, including Nanaimo's Glenn Mullett, climber, Kelowna's Axel St. Jean, foreman, and Victoria's Theo Waite, foreman. Mullett placed twenty- first overall; St. Jean placed fourth for Aerial Rescue, and twenty-second overall; and Waite placed seventh for the Work Climb event, and fourteenth overall. Davey was a BCTCC gold sponsor. For the Work Climb event, the head judge was Scott Gardner, district manager, Burnaby Residential office, and Doug Hogan, supervisor, Vancouver Residential office, was also a judge. Ben Nieuwoudt, sales arborist, Victoria Residential office, volunteered. The Nanaimo Residential office's Dave Hunter, district manager, and Mackenzie Cooper, office coordinator, along with Dan Sharp, district manager, Victoria Residential office, ran a Davey booth, which featured games with Davey swag as prizes.
