MISSION
UTILITY CREWS IMPRESS
RETIRED VETERAN
Two crews who were working on the United Electric
Cooperative account were clearing right-of-way on a large
property in Curwensville, Pennsylvania. Andy Vasbinder,
foreman, and Jake Kuhn, trimmer, were on the bucket crew.
Chris Weitoish, foreman, and Matt Smith, foreman, were on
the Jarraff crew.
The property owner, James C. Hahn, Colonel, U.S. Air Force
(Ret), had reservations when he was first approached about
the work. He said that he is a conservationist who loves the
outdoors and wildlife, so the idea of disrupting habitat within
the ROW was a concern.
However, on the day the work began, Hahn said his initial
reservations were not only calmed, but, after speaking with
Weitoish, he immediately knew he was in the best possible
hands.
"Their professionalism, vast knowledge, experience level,
attention to detail and unyielding dedication to successfully
managing the requirements of their mission with my inter-
ests as the landowner was not only evident from our first
conversation but kept improving throughout the day. They
spent the day bringing my land into compliance with electric
company standards to ensure the best possible delivery of
electrical power to my home," Hahn said.
Hahn added that, from a personal standpoint, when the
crews learned he was a retired veteran, they stated their
appreciation for his service.
"The crews did a nice job. They treated Mr. Hahn and his
land with respect. They gave him the time to express himself
and listened to him," said Eric Henry, account manager,
Eastern Utility services.
