MISSION
R/C AND DRG SERVE THE SAME CLIENT IN MINNEAPOLIS
St. Louis Park, Minnesota, has been lucky enough to have
two Davey service lines assisting it in a variety of projects.
St. Louis Park, located outside Minneapolis, first contacted
Davey Resource Group (DRG) based on a mutual connection
Ryan Gustafson, project developer with DRG Environmental
Consulting, had with an employee from the city parks
department.
Gustafson and his team completed a native seeding project
with the city on three separate sites, two of which had
construction damage, and the other being a nature preserve.
After completing that work, DRG partnered with the city on
another project to remove woody invasives and buckthorn.
St. Louis Park representatives also mentioned to Gustafson
the city needed help with
a large pruning project,
so Gustafson passed
along the request to Cindy
Grady, business developer
for the mid-Atlantic region,
who then shared it with
the South Minneapolis
R/C office, which soon
became a partner with
the city for the pruning
work. "Sharing projects
and clients is something
that happens pretty frequently here in Minneapolis,"
Gustafson said. "We have a lot of municipal clients, so
when they have projects that would be better suited for
an R/C operation we pass them along."
Seth Huber, assistant district manager at the South
Minneapolis R/C office, started the pruning project early this
year with the help of International Society of Arboriculture
(ISA) Certified Arborists
®
on his team, as the city specifically
requested ISA Certified Arborists do the work. They pruned
836 city street trees that spanned over approximately 30
city blocks. Some trees just needed a structural pruning
while others needed hazardous deadwood removed.
Because Davey trucks have been scattered throughout the
city the past few months, Huber has noticed
an increase in appointments in St. Louis Park,
which he feels is due to the increase in
recognition the trucks have brought to Davey.
