28 THE DAVEY BULLETIN | January/February 2022 IN THE SPOTLIGHT 1. When did you start at Davey, and what was your role? February 1987. I was hired as an office coordinator for the Edmonton office. At that point in time the utility division and the residential operations were both run together out of my office. 2. What is your current title and responsibilities? Office manager for both Alberta and Saskatchewan Utility operations. 3. What office/operation do you work at? I work out of the Nisku, Alberta, office. 4. What is one of your most memorable projects you've been a part of? When we switched to SAP, there was a huge learning curve, and especially because we were running both residential and utility operations at the same time. However, the SAP launch resulted in a number of trips to the corporate office in Kent, Ohio, for training and established some friendships that have continued today. It makes working with people so much better when you have actually met them and have gotten to know them. 5. Who is someone at Davey who has had a significant impact on your career? I would have to say Pat Covey. He was our instructor when we went to Kent for SAP training. He was down-to-earth, easy to get to know, easy to talk to and had a good sense of humor (which he really needed since he was working with a bunch of non-techy, field-oriented Canadians!) He was always available, and he helped keep us level-headed when things got frustrating. I have appreciated his continued friendship over the years as well. Davey Resource Group Environmental Consulting (DRG) won the 2021 Ohio Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Ohio) Best Practice Award for the Columbus Urban Forestry Master Plan. DRG shares this award with their partners on the project Urban Canopy Works and Designing Local. The Best Practice Award recognizes "the development of an innovative planning tool, practice, program or process," according to APA Ohio. The 2021 Columbus Urban Forestry Master Plan is the first citywide, long-term strategic plan for Columbus' urban forest. Congratulations, DRG! William (Billy) Volchko competed in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in St. George, Utah. Volchko placed 142nd out of 288 racers from around the world in his age division. Volchko is a foreman in the Crystal Lake R/C office. Congratulations, Billy! Laura Wimer has been appointed to secretary of the Patriot Project-Military Chiropractic Care Executive Committee. The Patriot Project provides chiropractic care to all active military, their families, Wounded Warriors and all Gold Star dependents. Wimer will serve a two-year term. Wimer is the director of client experience and contract management, Eastern Utility services. Congratulations, Laura! Mike Mittiga, vice president and general manager, Eastern Utility services, took part in a panel discussion for the Edison Electric Institute (EEI). The presentation was entitled, "Forestry Panel: The Challenges of Resource Constraints." Thank you for sharing your expertise, Mike! GET TO KNOW… AGNES LEONHARDT Agnes Leonhardt
