17 November/December 2021 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN 54 COMPLETE SAFETY MANAGEMENT TRAINING In 2021, 54 employees attended two virtual sessions of the Davey Core Safety Management (DCSM) program, hosted by the corporate safety department. DCSM is a two- day, Microsoft Teams-based training program geared toward helping management-level employees learn more about corporate safety policies, healthy workplace systems and work procedures. The program was adopted from the in-person Safety Leadership Training Program in 2020 and modified due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 sessions were held in late February for the western region and in mid- March for the southern region. "With the initial success of the virtual program last year, we were able to increase the number of participants from each service line and are looking to make this program available on the Davey Learning Management System (LMS) in the future," said Jon Schmidt, regional safety specialist. A pre-job safety meeting can identify major safety concerns before crews begin work on a property.
