THE DAVEY BULLETIN
STEWARDSHIP
When the Green Team at Kathy Hendricksen's church
approached her about adding a garden to their property,
Hendricksen, manager, business development and client
services, Residential services, took the idea and ran. She
thought expanding it to a pollinator garden would be just
what the church grounds needed. Hendricksen, who has
experience with her community's garden club, knew the
importance of having native plants for pollinators. "Bee
populations are declining in urban environments, so I
wanted this garden to set an example for others that there
are native plants that are easy to maintain and good for the
environment that look nice too," Hendricksen said. The
garden went on to be awarded with the Conservation@
Home certification from the University of Illinois for
practicing environmentally sound landscape practices.

How do we promote solutions for clients? We're
always listening. Over 20 years, I've learned how to
build relationships quickly, from residential clients
to utility clients. If you can listen carefully to people,
you can make friends quickly in this industry.
Be yourself and don't try to be someone you're
not. Be yourself and the clients will respect that.
