27 September/October 2021 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN MEMORIAL We are saddened by the loss of Steve Fannin, who passed away June 29, 2021. Fannin was a sales arborist at the Charleston Residential/ Commercial services office. Joe Tommasi with his wife, Chris, and children, Joseph and Claudia. Tom Wolf Luis Paba retired May 30, 2021, following 14 years of service. Paba was a trimmer at the Orlando office. Malelega Segi retired Jan. 21, 2021, following 39 years of service. Segi was a climber, San Diego Gas & Electric account. Segi started with Davey in 1982. In 2001 he was promoted to foreman, SDG&E account, and transitioned back to climber in 2015. Curtis Settle retired June 27, 2021, following 32 years of service. Settle was shop manager, Columbus Shop. Settle joined Davey in 1989 as a mechanic at the Columbus office. In 1999 he was promoted to shop crew leader and a year later shop manager of the Columbus office. John Sweesy retired June 6, 2021, following 28 years of service. Sweesy was a plant health care technician, North Detroit R/C office. Sweesy started at Davey in 1984 as a lawn spray technician. He was promoted to spray technician in 1986, landscape foreman in 1990, landscape management coordinator and landscape foreman in 1998 and then PHC technician in 2005. Sweesy is a 1991 D.I.T.S. graduate. Joe Tommasi retired Aug. 1, 2021, following 27 years of service. Tommasi was vice president, corporate safety. Tommasi's green industry career spanned 40 years and included work on a utility line clearance crew in New York starting in 1972. He joined Davey in 1994 as safety manager and worked in safety and risk management roles, including manager, safety and loss prevention, and corporate safety director. Tommasi has been involved with several industry groups throughout his time with Davey, including serving as the vice chair and chairman of the Tree Care Industry Association safety committee, the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Safety Committee, the ANSI Z133 safety committee, Edison Electric Institute Safety Committee and OSHA rulemaking task groups. He is also a member of the Utility Arborist Association, American Society of Engineers and The Utility Line Clearance Coalition. He is an ISA Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP). Tom Wolf retired June 13, 2021, following 13 years of service. Wolf was vice president for sales and client relations, DRG, Utility Vegetation Management. In 1974, Wolf started as a groundman at his grandfather's company, Wolf Tree, Inc., which was founded in 1926. He worked as a climber, crew leader and manager of residential services before he was named president of Wolf Tree in 1996. In 2008, Wolf Tree was acquired by Davey. In 2013 he was appointed to vice president of business development, Utility services. He is an ISA Certified Arborist ® , a member of the ISA board of directors, past president of the ISA Southern Chapter, chairman of the City of Knoxville Tree Board, and has served as a trustee for the Tree Research Education and Endowment (TREE) Fund.
