31 May/June 2021 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN Ana Burns, senior area manager, Davey Resource Group, was elected president of the Tinker's Creek Watershed Partners (TCWP) Board of Directors. Burns said TCWP's mission is to protect and restore water quality and habitats of the Tinker's Creek watershed through community partnerships. Tinker's Creek is the largest tributary to the famed and historic Cuyahoga River. Congratulations, Ana! The Virginia Senate passed Joint Resolution No. 371 commending Mike Rolband on his retirement. The resolution recognizes Rolband's three-decade career as an esteemed environmental engineer and advocate who has helped guide sustainable development in the Commonwealth. The resolution is "an expression of the General Assembly's profound admiration for his extraordinary service to the Commonwealth and best wishes for a long and fulfilling retirement." Rolband retired in January 2021 as the chairman and chief technical officer, Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI), a Davey company. Rolband founded WSSI in 1991, which was acquired by Davey in 2014, and has provided feedback on numerous environmental regulations in the region. Congratulations Mike on receiving this honor! Bekah Strait, associate consultant, Davey Resource Group, was elected as the chair of the Rocky River Watershed Council's 2021 Executive Committee. Her term as chair lasts until January 2022, but she intends to run for another term. "I have several fond memories throughout the Rocky River watershed, and I am excited to lead this volunteer group toward its goals of improving water quality and educating those that live in and around the watershed," Strait said. "I love mentoring and encouraging others and have a passion for water quality." Congratulations, Bekah! Jamie Blackburn, assistant district manager, Arborguard, a Davey company, Atlanta office, was elected to serve on the Georgia Tree Council Board of Directors. The mission of the Georgia Tree Council is "to sustain Georgia's green legacy by partnering with individuals, organizations and communities in raising awareness toward improving and maintaining Georgia's community forest," according to their website. Congratulations, Jamie! IN THE SPOTLIGHT Damon McKissick, account manager, Davey Tree Surgery Company, was appointed to the Oklahoma Community Forestry Council. McKissick is looking forward to the opportunity to interact and learn from arborists in the residential, municipal and state forester sectors. "I'm honored to be on the council because this is a rare chance in my career, and the professionals in these fields of work nominated me. I hope to make significant relationships that will provide new opportunities for Davey." Congratulations, Damon! Dana Karcher, area manager/project developer, Davey Resource Group, environmental consulting, has been elected as the next president of the International Society of Arboriculture's Board of Directors, which is a strategic governing board developing policy and plans for ISA. Davey has a long history of service on the board of directors. Karcher will serve a one-year term as president that will begin in August. "My hope is to capitalize on what we have done throughout the pandemic and bring our worldwide members and potential members experiences and learning that they have not had before. This ultimately results in better tree care, new science and state of the art techniques in arboriculture and urban forestry that benefit all practitioners' clients and communities." Congratulations, Dana!
