"They needed the dike repairs done quickly in case another heavy storm rolled in and posed a risk to the refuge." Both Philadelphia area offices had so much storm related work that they continued receiving calls and handling jobs a month after the storm first made landfall. A little further northeast, in New Jersey and New York, storm calls also continued well into September. Joseph O'Shea, sales arborist, New Jersey R/C office, said the storm's greatest impacts came in Morris and Essex counties. Nick Bates, sales arborist, Long Island R/C office, said his team also benefitted from help from a Rochester crew. "We had a lot of regular tree care maintenance planned for many of our long-time clients before the storm hit," Bates said. "We were inundated with storm calls. Our clients were patient and understood we had many emer- gency situations we had to respond to, and they were OK with work being rescheduled so we could help people with storm response work." "We have seen an incredible amount of structural damage from this storm," said Jason Parker, district manager, North Philadelphia office. "The rainfall total also was significant with severe flooding closing roads throughout the area. Thankfully, the waters receded quickly and we were able to start responding to clients the morning after the storm hit." Parker said one client with a house in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, had close to 40 trees down on her property. "The whole street was just wrecked," he said. About 10 inches of rain fell just west of Philadelphia.
