DAVEY HELPS KICK OFF
100 YEARS, 100 TREES
To honor its centennial, Detroit-based Village Green – a
longstanding Davey client – enlisted the help of Davey's
Detroit North Commercial Landscape Services territory
to kick off its goal of planting 100 trees that benefit
neighborhoods across the country.
On Arbor Day, Nick Baier, Timon Alongi and Greg Burgess
planted a crimson king maple in the Detroit Ronald
McDonald House garden. While the work took only a
few hours, the sapling will grow strong and stand sturdy
for years to come.
"It was a great thing to do with a great organization. RMH
does tremendous work for the community," said James
Gabbard, branch manager. "We wanted to give back and
show our support for them."
Like Davey Tree, Village Green focuses on improving lives
and communities through high quality business practices.

TREE CARE CAMARADERIE
More than 110 tree care professionals gathered at New
York's Baiting Hollow Boy Scout Camp in early March to
celebrate Arbor Day by giving back.
Hosted by the Long Island Arboricultural Association,
the volunteer day was spent pruning hazardous trees, r
emoving bushes, grinding stumps, spreading wood chips
and learning new skills.
Davey Tree employees worked alongside other tree care
representatives to make the camp safer for the scouts.
"It's important for Davey to be visible in the community
and show we're willing to chip in, participate and give back,"
said Richard Nelson, UVM specialist, National Grid account.
"At this event you see the camaraderie of it. We're all
looking for ways to work together, improve, be safer
and more efficient."
Davey volunteers for the camp cleanup included Charles Deonarine,
along with Hana Sorto and Jon Hickey, Jr., Mid Long Island R/C office;
Taylor Thompson, UVM Technician, DRG; and Richard Nelson.
