DAVEY BACKS COLORADO LOGGING TEAM
When the Colorado State Logging
Team hosted and competed in the
80th annual American Western
Forestry Club's Western Conclave,
they had Davey Tree's support.
As team coach and CSU alumnus,
Tyler Andrews, assistant district
manager, Fort Collins residential/
commercial office, that meant long
hours during and outside daily work.
Using a Davey grapple truck, Andrews
helped clear the 3-acre competition
field, spread over 150 yards of wood
chips, and prepare 150 feet of 14- to
18-inch diameter cottonwood logs and
two truckloads of Colorado aspen for

GIVING BACK TO HIRAM FARM
For a nonprofit organization like Hiram
Farm, clearing hazardous trees can
be costly and dangerous.
But thanks to a long day of volunteer
hours from Davey's East Cleveland
R/C office crew, several ash trees and
overgrown bushes were trimmed or
removed from the property of the rural
northeast Ohio program that employs
individuals with developmental
disabilities in a farm setting.
"It's nice to be able to help a local
organization that is giving back to the
community," said Tedd Bartlett, district
manager. "The people working the
farm were so thankful. They gave us
a card which we hung in our shop."
Crew members Wendell Crumley, Brian
Blozie and Alex Simon participated.
Davey crews cleared dangerous ash trees and
shrubs near the nonprofit's main buildings.
being involved with the community,"
Andrews said. "It's good for Davey,
having our name out there, being
involved, letting people know we're
coaching and helping. We're a team
like that."
Andrews was also given the Spirit of
the Sport award for his efforts.
Collectively, Davey's South Central R/C
Operating Group donated $1,000 to feed
more than 130 competitors. The team also
wore custom Arborwear shirts.
