IPADS TESTED
IN RECRUITING
PARTNERSHIP
Davey's recruiting department and
the Davey Tree Surgery Co. have
built a strong relationship with the
Northwest Lineman College – one
that's mutually benefited Davey and
the college's graduates.
The surgery company gets about
100 applicants a year from the
program, said Andrew Misch,
manager, recruiting.
During their annual presentation to
the graduating class they tested a
new application process. iPads were
piloted, so applications could be filled
out on the spot.
"It sped up the hiring process,
which speeds up our process to get
applicants into our system and get job
offers in front of them," Misch said.
Misch attributes their success in
recruiting talent to the reputation
they've built with the college's
faculty. The college does a great job
pre-recruiting and making the students
aware that Davey's an employment
option, he said.
"The large employers the students
are gunning for only have so many
LEADERSHIP
open positions," Misch said. "So,
that creates a pretty large group
of students who are looking for
experience and ways to work for
utility contractors to build up
experience. It's a really good fit
for us in this tight job market."
DAVEY SPONSORED MASTER'S CHALLENGE AT NATCC
Davey employees attended the
2018 North American Tree Climbing
Championship (NATCC) to support
climbers competing from across
the continent.
The event, organized by the
International Society of Arboriculture
(ISA), was held at Roger Williams Park
in Providence, Rhode Island. NATCC
showcases arborists in action and
helps educate consumers about proper
tree work and safety. Davey served as
the sponsor of the Master's Challenge
portion of the climbing competition.
