DAVEY'S ST. LOUIS OFFICE HELPS
RED BUD FIRE DEPARTMENT
Davey's St. Louis R/C office participated for the first time
in the Red Bud Fireman's parade, which is part of a town
festival to raise funds for the local fire department.
Tom Beshoar, district manager, has been a volunteer
fireman on the department for 13 years. He currently
serves as the board secretary for the department and
helps organize the festival.
"I love doing it," Beshoar said. "It's a great way to give
back to the community."
The town festival is the largest fundraiser of the year to
help with the purchasing of equipment, trucks and aid
in the everyday operations of the department.
Beshoar wanted to incorporate Davey into the parade
itself because his office does a lot of work in the town
and has several clients in the area.
"It's good for them to see what we have to offer," Beshoar
said. "With Davey they just think trees, but we do a lot of
lawn care and plant health care in Red Bud."
Kyle Baker, crane operator, drove the truck in the parade, while Beshoar
marched in the honor guard. Tessa Beshoar (pictured) also helped.
GARDEN WALK BENEFITS SCHOLARSHIPS
The Arlington Garden Club hosts an annual "Garden Walk
& Unique Boutique" in Arlington Heights, Illinois, to feature
various landscapes within the community and provide an
opportunity to share gardening knowledge.
Davey's Kathy Hendricksen, manager, business development
and client services, has been an active member of the
Arlington Garden Club for over 20 years and served as its
past president.
The garden walk is the largest fundraiser for the club and
the proceeds are used for their scholarship fund. This year's
Kathy Hendricksen isn't the only Davey employee involved in the
walk. Since 2013, Ryan Sherman, sales arborist, Wheeling office, has
attended to staff the "Ask the Arborist" booth at the Unique Boutique.
walk featured five gardens and a Unique Boutique, which
is an arts and crafts fair.
"It's not just about fundraising," Hendricksen said. "It's
about promoting gardening and people learning about
different aspects of the community."
