Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada,
Limited's Toronto West Residential
office crew members Harry McGrath,
climber; Matt Watters, groundperson;
and Will Whitwham, groundperson,
were at the end of their workday
when they received a call to help
rescue a cat from a giant maple tree
after it had been stuck in it for a
few days.
"I'm an animal lover myself and I
understand that when something
happens to them you can be pretty
worried about them," McGrath said.
"It was nice to be able help someone
out with that."

INTEGRITY
Christian Dominguez, trimmer,
Southeast Chicago office, was
aerating client Bill Weber's lawn in
New Lenox, Illinois, when he noticed
an elderly couple running by to try to
catch a puppy.
Dominguez jumped in to assist.
"Helping others is the right thing to
do. I was raised with these values,"
he said.
Neighbors noticed the puppy was
loose and joined in to help by giving
Dominguez dog treats to get the
puppy's attention. "Offering the puppy
a treat did the trick. I was able to grab
the puppy and reunite it with its
owners," Dominguez said.
RUNAWAY PUPPY
ENTICED BY TREATS
As Miguel Garcia, UVM technician,
SDG&E account, Davey Resource
Group, was driving on Cole Grade
Road in Valley Center, California on his
way to inspect trees, he noticed two
people trying to put out a roadside
grass fire with water bottles.
Luckily, he had his fire equipment with
him, including a 5-gallon water pack.
"I pulled over, jumped out, and started
spraying," Garcia said. "I continued
to spray water until the fire was
completely out so when the California
Department of Forestry and Fire
Protection arrived, it was already out."
Garcia explained the area experiences
frequent fires and he was happy he
was prepared and could help prevent
the fire from spreading.
