25 July/August 2023 | THE DAVEY BULLETIN 1. When did you start at Davey, and what was your role? I started at Davey on April 20, 1998, as a trimmer trainee, SDG&E account, with no experience. They had me up a tree on day one! 2. What is your current title and responsibilities? I'm a foreman, which involves utility line trimming. I plan and schedule work with my supervisor and interact with clients. As a specialized tree equipment operator, I operate the Prentice loader, which is used to quickly remove large amounts of material to clear the way for crews to continue production. 3. What is one of your most memorable projects you've been a part of? My most memorable project was clearing large, dead trees on Palomar Mountain as a newer trimmer. It was both challenging and rewarding. 4. Who is someone at Davey who has had a significant impact on your career? I've been lucky to have so many, but Phil Gibbons, who is now a project manager, safety and fire patrol team, Livermore office, was my first manager. He was the one who cemented me to a career at Davey. Twenty-some years ago, Phil supported me as a starting foreman by having me operate our 70-foot lift truck, which was new at that time.
