Those at Davey always strive to
climb higher (literally and figuratively).
Passionate tree climbers from Florida
and beyond came together to do
just that at the Florida Chapter of
International Society of Arboriculture's
annual Tree Climbing Championship.
Davey's Adam Jackson, district
manager of our Orlando office,
Residential/Commercial services,
led the way. Jackson has been the
event chair for seven years and an
event volunteer for 19 years.
"Events like this teach you new
climbing methods. At its heart,
though, it's about connecting great
tree climbers and arborists,"
Jackson said.
Ethan Allen and Trevor Hill from
Jackson's office saw this first-hand.
At the event, held in February, Allen
placed 13th while Hill placed 4th.

CLIMBING
CHAMPIONSHIP
IN FLORIDA
A listener of CISN Country 103.9 FM
in Edmonton, Alberta, thought her
collection of concert T-shirts were
going to be mulch after she gave them
away to win Garth Brooks tickets.
The station brought her back after the
concert to show her what they were
planning to do with her collection. The
station enlisted Davey's help to provide
a wood chipper and pretend to shred
the shirts.

WHAT'S THE CONNECTION?
Mid Atlantic and Northeast operating group attendees included: William Arellano, Ross
Behringer, Matt Combs, Jeremy Faoro, Daniel Gillen, Lucio Gutierrez, James Legge,
Sara Moyer, Joseph O'Shea, Philip Tate, Matthew Teague, Matthew Tovey, Matt Trainum,
Javier Vasquez and Mark Ware.
Lots of fun and learning was had by
all who attended the Florida Chapter's
ISA Tree Climbing Championship
in February 2017.
Harper, groundman, Edmonton R/C
office, participated in this clever prank.
Justin Kobeluck, assistant district
manager, Edmonton R/C office, said
little did she know, her shirts were
perfectly safe and they had no
intention of sending them through.
The listener received all her T-shirts
back and a framed Garth Brooks T-shirt
from the concert.
"It was great exposure for the Davey
company," Kobeluck said.
Davey's Edmonton office helped a local radio station play a trick on a Garth
Brooks fan, who thought she was going to have to feed her concert T-shirts
through a wood chipper to get tickets to an upcoming show.
the tree people could learn a little bit
more about lawn care," Abbott said.
Mazur said DIHS sessions are held
in regions with high demand.
But, employees working outside the
host region are encouraged to apply
if they want to attend.
Ali said the session in Memphis
was a chance for Jones Bros.
Tree & Landscape, a Davey
company, employees to take
advantage of the professional
development opportunity.
"I think this was a good
introductory segue into doing
things the Davey way," Ali said.
