Jerome Ocker, sales arborist, King of Prussia R/C office, helped junior girl
scout troop #7753 plant a serviceberry tree at Upper Merion Township Park
as part of an Earth Day celebration.
The planting served as a demonstration for other residents who ordered
bare-root trees. The highlight of the experience was being down in the dirt
showing the girls how to plant the tree, Ocker said.

OFFERING ADVICE
BEFORE STORM
DAMAGE OCCURS
Mike Whetzel, district manager,
The Care of Trees (TCOT), a Davey
company, Alexandria office, celebrated
Earth Day overlooking the Potomac
River at the American Horticultural
Society's Garden Show, held at the
historic River Farm.
The American Horticultural Society
hosted the two-day event for visitors
to purchase their early herbs and
flowers. TCOT has participated for
several years and set up a display
table with literature about TCOT
services, Whetzel said.
This year, visitors to the display were
advised to consider a consultation
with one of our certified arborists
before the summer storm season to
evaluate trees near their homes and
identify any problems that could
cause damage, Whetzel said.
COMMUNITY
NURTURING
The weather may have been rainy, but
a little mud didn't scare the people away,
Mike Whetzel said. Visitors put on their
boots and braved the rain.
