32 The Davey Bulletin | May/June 2017 Janis Hittle retired March 31 following 43 years of service. She was program support coordinator in the corporate communications department. Hittle joined Davey in 1973 as a secretary in the office services department in the corporate office and was later promoted to supervisor of the office services department. In 2001, she became program support coordinator in the corporate communications department. In 2002, she became the first Davey employee to earn certification as a Certified Administrative Professional (CAP). DAVEY PEOPLE Steve Marshall retired April 1 following 40 years of service. He was executive vice president and assistant to the president. Marshall started his career with Davey in 1977 with the residential service line as a sales and service technician in the Akron office. He became a sales representative a year later and was promoted to district manager in 1979. In 1991, he was RETIREMENTS promoted to regional manager for western operations and in 1994 to operations manager. In 1997, he joined Eastern Utility services as vice president. In 2003, Marshall was promoted to vice president and general manager for Eastern Utility and was named a corporate officer. In 2007, he was promoted to executive vice president, operations. Marshall was a recipient of the John Davey Award in 2013 and a member of the inaugural Davey President's Council in 1988. Marshall said in a recent interview that he always took pride in being given greater leadership responsibility at Davey over the course of his career. "And I don't think I ever really said 'no' to any opportunity," he said. "If it was for the betterment of the company and its employees, I was all in." Janis Hittle and her husband Russ at her retirement party in March. Brian Jeffers retired March 25 following 37 years of service. Jeffers was a technical advisor at the Davey Institute. Jeffers joined Davey in 1980 as a lab technician. He was promoted to project supervisor in 1987. Jeffers has been involved in the research and development of numerous Davey projects, including Arbor Green PRO ® and has served as an instructor at D.I.T.S., D.I.L.S. and other company training programs. Brian Jeffers Herb Landmann retired March 24 following 15 years of service. He was an operations manager, government services, Davey Resource Group. Landmann started with Davey in 2002 as a specialist, then a manager, on the Architect of the Capitol project. Since 2009, he had been involved with Asian Longhorned Beetle treatment projects, more recently becoming the ALB national contract manager. She was a business analyst in Residential/ Commercial services in the corporate office. Molnar joined Davey in 1990 as an accountant in internal reporting at the corporate office. She was promoted in 1996 to senior accountant and in 1999 to supervisor of internal reporting. In 2005, she was promoted to service line business analyst. She was named to the Davey President's Council in 2009. Maureen Molnar at her retirement party.
