DAVEY CANADA
EARNS EMPLOYER
EXCELLENCE AWARD
Nine years ago, Mark Svozil, senior vice president, Commercial Landscape
Services, started sending motivational emails on Mondays to keep in
touch with and support fellow employees. This snowballed into a weekly
ritual, which has developed an incredible audience of 800 and was
featured in Lawn and Landscape magazine.
Often, these emails contain a quote and Mark's reflections on it. The
material for these emails are drawn from numerous sources without a
stringent pattern. "I don't stick to a format. That's how I can stay fresh,"
Svozil said.
Svozil never expected this to garner so much attention, but now he gets
contacted by an eager audience if the email is late. It only takes him less
than an hour to write his emails, and the results are well worth the effort.
"I think that the big thing is, no matter how crazy things are, we all have
to take two minutes for ourselves to appreciate what we have and where
we are going," Svozil said.

John Arico, Canada regional vice
president, congratulates Mike Lenarcic,
district manager, Niagara office, on receiving
the Employer Excellence Award from The
Career Foundation. The award stems from
Lenarcic's work in Canada's recruiting and
training department.
