OWNER'S BOX — Evan Rivera general foreman, utility Pedernales Electric Coop Johnson City, Texas "I previously worked at another tree care company. Working at Davey is very different – and way better. Here, you have a much better chance of improving and growing. I've been at Davey a little more than a year, and I've already learned so much. Safety's a big part of that. Safety is all about preparing yourself for what could happen and then doing your best to prevent it. Every day you wake up, even though you're doing something similar, you can't get too comfortable. That's when accidents occur. Reviewing safety hazards and protocols each morning helps keep everyone mindful and safe." Thomas Michael (Mike) Brenneman retired Aug. 2, 2015, following 29 years of service. He served as district manager at several offices, most recently the Naples R/C office. RETIREMENTS Patrick Flynn passed away June 3, 2016. Flynn served as a sales arborist for Hartney Greymont's Needham, Massachusetts, R/C office. Flynn started his first career working as a parks superintendent for Blue Hills Reservation in Boston and retired as director in the state park system. Flynn's recognition for his efforts as a parks superintendent was covered in the May/June Davey Bulletin. Flynn started his second career at Hartney Greymont, a Davey company, on Oct. 3, 2010. He enjoyed both his careers, which allowed him to share his passion for trees. 28 The Davey Bulletin | September/October 2016 DAVEY PEOPLE James M. Lloyd, retiree, passed away on July 21, 2016.
