Davey continues to be a major
contributor as Kent beautifies and
redevelops its downtown.
Jeff Blind, account manager for
Davey's East Cleveland CLS Office,
and his team recently finished a
project downtown.
Triangle Park, located at the corner
of Haymaker Parkway and East
Main Street near the Kent State
University campus, now features a
beautiful, large American Holly tree
and additional plantings.
The planning process started in spring
2015, but they ultimately decided to
wait until the fall as the area would
be difficult to irrigate during the
summer months.
"This is one of the last pieces of
dressing up the new downtown Kent
landscape, and the city is very pleased
with how it turned out," says Blind.
TRIANGLE PARK
BEAUTIFICATION
Davey recruiters made a vibrant impression at the 88th Annual Future Farmers of
America (FFA) convention last October, with tropical Davey polos and an exciting
climbing obstacle for the student attendees.
A record-breaking 65,173 high school students traveled across the U.S. to attend
the three-day convention, which featured a tradeshow comprising more than 80
colleges, businesses and organizations, including Davey.
Davey's attendees included Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager John Wright; Recruiter/
Trainers Paul Herb, Eduardo Medina, Andrew Misch, Don Roppolo and Joe Shaw;
Operations Manager of the Mid-Atlantic region Chris Klimas; Operations Manager
of North Central Operating Group Trey Webster; Manager of Recruiting and Training
Mark Noark; CLS Regional Manager Rick Hannah; and Coordinator of utility
production for Davey Resource Group James Panezott. Together they ran Davey's
popular booth.
"The kids' reactions to Davey's climbing exhibit was amazing. It was one of their
favorite things at the event," Wright says. "For Davey, it was very good exposure
to students of all ages (and) definitely a worthwhile experience."
For some newer Davey recruiters/trainers, such as Andrew Misch, the FFA
convention was a chance to learn how to effectively recruit new, young talent to
the company. "Meeting the team, observing how they interact with students and
seeing their different recruiting styles were my biggest takeaways," Misch says.
Also new to the FFA convention, Panezott says, "My highlight was networking
with fellow Davey employees and meeting other corporate recruiters and
regional managers."
'FARMING' NEW OPPORTUNITIES
Davey attended the 88th Annual Future Farmers of America convention and set up a climbing
course, as demonstrated by Joe Shaw, for company recruiting.
Davey gave Triangle Park in downtown Kent,
Ohio, a needed facelift.
