January/February 2016 | 7 Other Utility West account Clayton Harry This individual really went out of his way, and we would be grateful if he could be recognized in some way. My wife and I were returning from Chicago to our home in Canada via M-14 into Detroit. We were towing our pop-up camper not far out of Detroit. The safety pin on our hitch had become damaged at some point in the journey, allowing the trailer hitch to eventually come loose. Enter Clayton Harry. He pulled over to ask if we needed assistance. He quickly assessed the situation and devised a plan to re-attach the hitch. The plan worked and within 5 or 10 mins of our mishap, we were safely on the road again. Clay recognized an unsafe situation and acted quickly to rectify it. Not only that, but he assisted strangers in a very vulnerable position. His kindness and caring were very evident. Since we were all in a potentially precarious spot, the immediate goal was to get out of harm's way as quickly as possi- ble. This left very little opportunity to thank Clay for his invaluable help. Clay is one heck of an ambassador for the Davey organization. This story has been and will be re-told many times, and always identifies "Clay from Davey" as our hero. Ron Stead Chatham, Ontario United Electric Cooperative account Last week, a Davey crew showed up to trim trees at Sandstone Drive in Faith Creek. After all the limb removal, they cleared debris and cleaned the site. The whole time they were very professional, courteous and safety-minded. The next day, they had just set-up in front of my drive when I had to tell them an ambulance would need to pull in; my wife was having a medical problem. Booms were stowed and trucks were moved quickly. One crewmember flagged in the ambulance. The next day they even thought to inquire about my wife. These guys are what every company wants to be represented by. Robert E. Seyler Dallas R/C office Terry Hagen Many thanks to these gentlemen for cutting my trees. They did a very good job. I am very happy. Tom Cunningham S&S Tree Rob came out and walked around our property with me, even though it was pouring rain. He had a bid for us before he left, which we accepted after get- ting bids from a few other companies. S&S came out right away and treated our red oaks. The S&S crew was courteous, efficient and clean. They also tested a burr oak for a possible infestation and made recommendations to help the health of the tree. We'll definitely be using them again in the future. They were awesome! The Talisbury's St. Paul, Minnesota Hamilton office David Cruickshanks, Richard Jarvis, Ethan Kraul, Andrew Lewis, Kevin Tilbury, Ben Turchet, Jon Vanderboom It has been said that an "expert" is someone who makes the difficult look easy. Davey staff earned the title of "expert" in my eyes. Thank you. Ron Mellish Burlington, Ontario WETLAND STUDIES AND SOLUTIONS, INC. Chris Cowles For the Roundtable's Sept. 11 Root Appreciation Day, Chris and his workers did the preparation work of exposing 10 trees' roots. It seemed everywhere I looked someone in a shirt with the logo of Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., Davey or The Care of Trees was assisting a group. Chris Cowles impressed everyone with his tree physiology knowledge and ability to communicate to the 70 participants who left with a greater appreciation for tree roots. Nora Palmatier Coordinator Northern Virginia Urban Forestry Roundtable Charlottesville, Virginia Kevin Bauer (left) and Gordon Church (right) congratulate Fred Lake on excellent service.
