G
rounds maintenance, storm restoration
and tree care are a few of the regular
concerns of cemeterians. That is why Davey
continues to volunteer and share tree knowl-
edge at the Ohio Cemetery Association (OCA)
Annual Meeting and Field Day each year.
Bob Meoak, district manager at the
Cincinnati R/C office, and Trey Webster,
operations manager for the North Central
region, shared their knowledge and services
information to more than 150 attendees at
Davey's "expert" booth, one of 20 total
Cemeterians Talk Trees with Davey
booths. Meoak and Webster engaged with
cemeterians, answering tree questions and
distributing Davey giveaways including Arbor

fertilizer samples.
Being the only tree company in attendance,
Meoak says he and Webster received many
questions, including how often trees should
be pruned.
"The day went very well," Meoak says.
"We made a lot of great contacts with
cemetery managers and supervisors from
throughout the State of Ohio."
in Chicago, where U.S. President Barack
Obama established the first-ever national
monument in Illinois in early February. The
NPCA selected the Pullman Historic District,
the newest urban national park, as the perfect
location for one of the 10 #FindYourVoice
signature events this year.
Brian Borkowicz, regional sales developer,
north central operations, joined the 140-plus
total volunteers to restore the "new" national
monument to its former glory.
"Pullman's history is so interesting,"
Borkowicz says. "Being a part of restoring such
a historic monument was a great opportunity."
According to Lynn McClure, Midwest direc-
tor of the NPCA, the goal was to "get people
active on the ground and start making change."
That is just what Borkowicz did when
he worked with volunteers to properly spread
15 yards of premium mulch, which Davey's
north central operations donated. The mulch
was recycled from an ash tree removal project
with Chicago Park District at Humbort Park.
"Davey's involvement made a big impact on
the community," Borkowicz says. It helped us
connect and grow long-term relationships and
emerge our premium mulch market."
Trey Webster talked trees with cemeterians
looking for new solutions to help maintain
their cemetery grounds.
