P
ittsburgh tree lovers joined together for
a night of live music, local food and
hand-crafted wood art at Tree Pittsburgh's
seventh annual Arbor Aid celebration.
More than 300 guests joined Tree Pittsburgh,
a Davey client, on the Allegheny River to
explore Tree Pittsburgh's new Heritage Tree
Nursery. Attendees enjoyed celebrating trees and
raising money for the nonprofit organization to
continue its successful tree projects throughout
the community.
Tree Pittsburgh's mission is to protect and
restore Pittsburgh's urban forest through
community tree planting and care, education
and advocacy. Events like Arbor Aid support
that mission, while also encouraging community
members to follow their cause.
A few Davey employees joined the tree-filled
party, including Joe Gregory, Davey Resource
Group (DRG) assistant manager of natural
resource consulting; Sandra Reid, vice president
of corporate communications and strategic
planning administration; and Karen Wise, DRG
manager of natural resource consulting.
DRG helped co-sponsor the overall event with
help from Davey's three Pittsburgh R/C office
district managers, including Ron Hegner, North
Pittsburgh; Miles Stephens, South Pittsburgh;
and Todd Sherbondy, East Pittsburgh.
"We sponsor the event because Tree Pittsburgh
is a great organization, a loyal client and a valued
partner," Gregory says.
Davey continues to support the goal of
Pittsburgh and its nonprofit partner, Tree
Pittsburgh, to create future growth of the city's
already well-established urban forestry culture.
