The Big Picture

T
he hunt for big trees in the U.S. continues
three-fourths of a century since it began.
This year, American Forests celebrates the
75th anniversary of its National Big Tree
Program, an initiative that began in 1940 with
the article "Let's Find and Save the Biggest
Trees" by forester Joseph Sterns.
Since then, hundreds of large, native trees
in the U.S. have been recognized every year.
Davey is the premiere sponsor of the Big
Tree Program, a partnership that also celebrates
a milestone anniversary—25 years. We help
increase awareness about the champion trees
and the vital roles they play in the environ-
ment—but you can become directly involved
with the program as well.
Aspiring big tree hunter? American
Forests is always looking for champion tree
nominees. Do you see a potential candidate on
the job, or even as you explore the outdoors,
outside of the office or work site? Go to

D
avey has announced the purchase of certain
assets of Klebasko Environmental Services,
LLC, located in Maryland by Davey's subsidiary,
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI), based
in Virginia.
"With this addition, we continue to expand our
natural resource consulting service operations by
growing our presence in the Mid-Atlantic region
and offering additional services to our clients
throughout North America," says Brent Repenning,
vice president and general manager of Davey
Resource Group.
The addition of Klebasko increases Davey
and WSSI's strength in environmental consulting
by bringing more than 30 years of experience in
wetland studies, forest conservation, endangered
species surveys and other environmental services.
The Klebasko team also brings a keen understand-
ing of the Chesapeake Bay Critical Area permitting
processes and effects. The addition of professionals
Mike Klebasko and Ken Wallis to the WSSI team
represents a solid commitment to the expansion
into the Maryland market by WSSI and DRG.
