He was vice president of personnel recruiting and development. Ober began his Davey career in 1975 as a sales and service representative at the Akron Lawnscape office. He has held several other positions within the residential and commercial service line, such as district manager for Pittsburgh Lawnscape and general manager of Lawnscape services. Ober also joined the corporate office in 1980 and earned a promotion to operations manager of residential and commercial services in 1984. In 2000, Ober was promoted to his current position overseeing recruitment, training and development of Davey field employees. In 2007, Ober received the Best of Davey Leadership Award. "Gordon has been a tireless ambassador for Davey and a significant contributor within Portage County, Davey's home base," says Pat Covey, president and chief operating officer of U.S. operations. "We will miss his enthusiasm, leadership and commitment to the employees of the Davey company." Ober has served on and is chairman of the Robinson Health System Board of Trustees in Ravenna, Ohio; is a past board member of Portage County United Way; served as president and a member of the Aurora, Ohio, Kiwanis; is a current member and past moderator of The Church in Aurora; and he is a past member of the International Society of Arboriculture Research Trust Board, now known as TREE Fund. "I have been blessed to be part of Davey for my entire career," Ober says. "Over the years, I've made countless friendships and have been able to work with all divisions throughout North America. It's been a hugely rewarding experience." Gordon Ober Transitions Dan Joy has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager of com- mercial landscape services. He will take on additional administrative responsibilities over the operations support group, including safety, equipment, purchasing and the recruiting and development functions. "As the company reaches new milestones, we must be forward thinking in how the organization best manages the many new opportunities," says Karl Warnke, Davey's chairman, president and CEO. Joy joined Davey in 1976 on the Cleveland Electric Illuminating account. He has held various positions within the R/C and CLS groups since then and was named vice president of Commercial Landscape Services in 2005. He was promoted to vice president and general manager of CLS in 2013. "Dan is a seasoned and successful executive, and he possesses the skills required to advance these extremely important support functions," Joy Becomes Executive Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Landscape Services Dan Joy Warnke says. "His drive and many years of field experience will serve him well in this new position." Joy received the Outstanding Manager Award in 2007, and he is also a Best of Davey Leadership Award recipient. Joy is a former President's Council member.
